Jim, I did not steal your rock! I want it known that I found it fair and square, it isn't my fault everyone else walked over it, failing to see the little bit of blue peaking out. Sorry you didn't get any avocados but glad you got the shafts.
Fair enough Jean, only for the Superbowl ;-) Some of the commercials are great but I'll be mostly watching the game and taking bathroom breaks for me and Gypsy during commercials -as it should be during a Broncos game!

Sorry I missed you, Jim, when dispersing the avos. I think you were making your horse ovaries at the time, and I was working on my second beer. I'll see what I can do to remedy that. Diane, when you say you take bathroom breaks while watching the Broncos play - do you mean so you can go get sick when they start to choke??? LOL LOL LOL! (I shouldn't talk. Being a Chargers fan, I've been there numerous times!)
STOP BRONCOS !!

Thanks Brian, that was my mom's idea but I have to admit it was a good one. I was just going to find some velvet to display it on but she found the box and it fit. Jean, LOL, you are too funny. I actually take the bathroom breaks only during commercials so I can stay to see the Broncos kick butt. Jim, I think it is a year until next year but I could be wrong

I dare you to find a fish fossil also, Diane. Yeah, Diane, where's yours? All you found was some crummy blue rock that was broke into two parts, lol!
Wow!!! Fish fossils in Brenda jasper??? Strange things are afoot in the Arizona desert Yes, Brian, fish fossil in Brenda jasper. Who'd a thunk? It was certainly a surprise to me, was totally not expecting it. I think the aliens had fish for lunch, then somehow inserted the bones into the rock.
Bob took it in to show his coworkers, one of them asked how old it is. I have the coordinates where it was found, now I'm trying to compare to a geologic map of AZ for the age of the deposits. Will let ya know.

Update on fish fossil:
According to geologic maps of AZ, I have found that the rocks to the north of Brenda are "Volcanic rocks (Middle Miocene to Oligocene; 15 to 38 Ma) - Silific to mafic flows and pyroclastic rocks; includes some subvolcanic intrusions."
So tell me, how is it that a fish fossil can be found in volcanic rock? Wouldn't it more commonly be found in sedimentary rocks? Hmmm...

2015 will see Big Red in Brenda...and I am NOT going to point out gem silica to anyone. I will get out and pick it up myself. Glad to see Diane found both pieces. Woody

That fossil fish is unfreakinglybelievable. That needs to be taken to a museum as it is undoubtedly extremely rare....Mel

Thanks, Mel. I 'spose I could take it to the Natural History Museum in San Diego... What's the law about private parties collecting/owning vertebrate fossils? Or is that law more geared to dinosaur remains?
Mainly, I'd like to learn how it formed in the first place. Yesterday I went through every piece of Brenda jasper I brought home, looking for another. Needless to say, did not find another. Jean

I am wondering if the fish could have gotten stuck in a crack about the same time an event occurred that removed all the oxygen from the water.
Happened to me once but I survived and fossilized later. Jim

Jim, you are too funny! I was also thinking along those lines, re., the unfortunate fish. Swam into a crack, thinking it was a safe place to be - oops!! Earthquake occurs, compresses the crack closed? IDK, just guessing.

The way the Broncos played, the commercials were the only reason to stay and watch! I think my favorite was the Oikos Greek yogurt commercial, where this guy eating it gets a little bit on his upper lip[. His girlfriend/wife licks it off, so he does it again. Then he drops a bit of it into his lap. I LOL'ed at that one. Typical guy...
I also liked the T-Mobile one, about going to the prom and having to watch the girl you had a crush on dance with some other dude. Watch two football teams play that aren't your team. It all made perfect sense when I saw it, but I can't tell you exactly how it went. Maybe someone can find a link online and post it?
And, of course the Budweiser Clydesdale and puppy one was adorable. I'm sure there was more, but those three stick out.
