I cut my first slab of this tasty Hydrogarnet several weeks ago and ended up making a couple of pendants from it that seemed to get a good reception, so today I decided to cut a few more slabs from it. Wish I had more from this stone to cut...I'm almost out. its got a really unusual pattern and color contrast. Angular preform. Still not sure what direction I'll go with this. Maybe a drop. Thanks for taking a peek. Stay warm out there everybody. I think I nearly dodged frostbitten finger-tips today!

that is gorgeous - how does it differ from your backyard unknown? Gosh to me it looks the same.
Is this a type of rock you can sell?

The hydrogarnets are really common around here. I've been collecting them forever so I can almost pick one out from 50 yards. Yeah, the other specimen is a completely different animal. Some of the coloring is pretty close, but the massive garnet cobbles and boulders have a very distinctive matrix to them. More of a brecciated type of look, for lack of a better word. Although I have to say, this one is a one of a kind. I probably could sell some of these critters. There's a fellow e-bay user who doesn't live too far away from me who sells a lot of jade, but only the occasional Hydro. Maybe if I act now, I can corner the market with this stuff.

That's a nice looking rock. I love the color and patterns in it. I've never seen a hydrogarnet before had to google that up. Cool!
