Snowdog, Any hardware store handles left & right handed, unless you mean the left handed or right handed rock nuts. If thats the case there are probably lots of them right here!(funnie funnie)

If you don't find any let me know. I think there are a couple around somewhere, that came off a bench grinder. At least I think that is the kind you are talking about.

Hey snow you might get the nuts at an auto parts place. The left hand nuts are sometimes used on different parts of vehicles.

Try all of the above first. I just did a quick look at McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com) for 5/8 in. left hand thread standard steel nuts and they have them (and other sizes and materials) for $5.90 for a pack of 10. This is no doubt more than you need, but perhaps as a last resort.

Well, I went to T S C and they didn't have the left handed nuts?? BUT I did find them at another hardware store ( only store around that has everything to fit everything but you have to ask or else spend hours looking!!) -------- then again I did find some collars there --- not just the regular ones in with the nuts/bolts section --- if you go to the back of the store they have "tractor" parts -- for farm machinery they call them " hub collars" and they are about 3-4 times as heavy and have at least two set screws in them ----for a 1" shaft they are about 1 & 1/2"s long and prob 2 & 1/2" thick ( use on combine/ corn picker shafts)
