I'm planning on taking my son up to northern Michigan this summer to hunt Petoskey stones. This is what I found so far:
- Fisherman's Island State Park, Michigan Beach, McSauba Recreation Area, Norht Point Nature Preserve - I think these are all in the Charlevoix area.
- Near the city of Petoskey (but don't know where exactly, beach I assume...)
- Road cuts, gravel pits (anyone know of promising ones?)
Would appreciate any recommendations of best places to go and worst places to avoid. Would probably also like to start in free collecting areas and only go to the fee areas if I have bad luck.
