There is already a great thread pinned on the use of Opticon, and I know many prefer it for healing fractured rocks. Just curious if anyone has used CAGlue? They have a video on lapidary use, not really riveting content that puts you on the edge of your seat - but it is somewhat informative. The fact that they have 3 products for different uses is interesting. Also note that they apparently sand and polish after applying...maybe it differs in hardness from Opticon. Looking forward to any input. Cheers

I use CA on rock for fractures. I buy in bulk from www.starbond.com Hot Shot is also another distributor for CA.

I've used it, actually based on that video. Red to stabilize fractures and green to fill vugs. Seems to work fine. The pipette that guy is using changed my life; they sell them on Amazon for cheeeep.

I use it only as a glue --- some solid gritty stuff to a mandrel. Works well for that.

The shelf life for glued objects is only a few years. A while back I read an article from the Smithsonian magazine that described their experience with it. They were using it in restoration projects and found that after a few years the objects were failing at the glued joints. The went back to using epoxy because it doesn't deterioriate with time. Bob

Is Hot Stuff any better than StarBond or other cyano acrylates for filling fractures & pits? Or is it just marketing? What about PaleoBond? Aren't all CA glues created equal? Lynn
