Had a wonderful craft & hobby retreat last week in Leavenworth WA. While my friends quilted I got busy on the Flat Lap. This is my third round and the only cab that didn't polish was sadly a blue sheen obsidian. I'm determined to polish a OB cab though I don't know the material in the upper middle and lower left. The Dino and the K2 are my favorite. Thanks for looking. Very nice. The upper middle has a marble look to it like the K2. Bottom left has colors like Oregon sunset agate, did it cut like a really hard agate?

Nice cabs. That K2 is my fave. I've had great luck polishing obsidian with cerium oxide.

The upper middle could be K2 but it didn't come from the batch I bought. It was an end cut slab I found in a misc. pile. The left bottom did cut really hard and nice like agate. I thought a high dome would make it shine really nice but it doesn't show off the high gloss polish I see without photo. I might try and take it down a bit too see if the polish shows off better. It was also a misc. endcut but was slabed thick leading me to believe it would show well with a high done.
Regarding the Obsidian I didn't post. I found about 10 large straight scratches in it that showed up about 600 grit. I didn't see it before till I found my magnifying glass. Ill give it another go again. I love OB and have had great results tumbling it before.

I just read that you polish OB on a slower rpm? I used my flat lap I close to fill speed. What are your thoughts on polish speed?
