Wow - neat stuff! I like the dense, yellow slices. I was lucky and got a huge slice of the flame agate from Split Point before the prices went insane on Ebay. So, do y'all really have to watch out for the huge tidal bore to get these rocks? C-ya, Rick

Rick:
The flame agate from Cape Split is outrageously priced, even locally. I can't afford to buy it, but hope to hunt it sometime.
To get to it, you have a 2hr - 3hr hike, depending on your level of fitness. The collection window is about 1hr - 2hr, depending on the tides and location. To get down the cliff face, you hang on to an old "tow rope" as though your life depended on it and descend and ascend. You are limited to what you can carry in your back pack up the cliff. That explains the price, I guess. It is a challenging hunt from what I hear.
Darryl.
