Hello my name is Adam and I recently came across a bunch of rough fordite from the Dearborn Paint Plant in Michigan. I was wondering if anyone was interested in buying it or if you know anyone who is? I have some really big thick pieces, some weighing over a 1/4 pound. I can send pics if your interested.

The rules of this forum include one that asks you not to post for sale ads until you have at least 50 posts. This is done to allow the community to get to know you as a human, as well as deter spammers from cluttering up the place we like to hang out.
I'll leave it to you to decide if you are a spammer, or someone who wants to participate here and make friends. Best of luck.

Welcome aboard! There will be definite interest in your Fordite, the member simply need to get familiar with you. Once they do, it is a very welcoming and supportive environment.
I can't help you with cabbing Fordite as I have never tried. Do a search on the Cabochons section, and you may find some tips and trick posted there.
Better yet, post you question on the Cabochons section and someone will pick up on it. We have members that have posted beautiful Fordite cabochons in the past, I just can't remember who.
Good luck.
Darryl.

Hi, Adam, and welcome to the RTH forum! Would you please post some pics in maybe the specimen forum so we can see the fordite you found? I would love to see it!
How do you differentiate fake from 'real' fordite? I've seen lots of fordite on ebay, but don't have a clue if it's the real deal or not.

The old fordite is just plain colors, the newer fordite has more metallic colors in it. The older paint seems to make better cabs as the older stuff had chemicals in it that are not used anymore.
Welcome to the forum.
