It looks like my grinding and sanding of small specimens will use a 1/4 hp ge motor I have located. A friend has given me the materials to do the shaft extension and arbor. I will use a disc with psa silicon carbide discs for the cost. I have read some older lapidary books but still don't know how much water to feed to the disc. Is the requirement less than a diamond disc or more. Any thoughts?

I use SiC belts on expandos for up to 600 with most materials and I use plenty of water, and lots of water with diamond too. When sanding if the abrasive surface starts to look muddy you will need more water.
