Tumbling some Flint Ridge flint that my son and I collected last year. For the most part they are very solid pieces with nice patterns. But we did bring home a few duds that were impregnated with quartz and just did not appear solid at all. So I busted those up with a hammer to use as filler in the batch - and for the most part I was right; the material just fell apart. But what did stick together looks pretty promising, kind of like brecciated jasper floating in agate. We'll see what it looks like after a few more cycles in the tumbler.

Wanna see, wanna see! I pick up flint on Penobscot Bay beaches. The story goes that it was originally mined in Great Britain, and many sailing ships used it as ballast, and then just dumped it in the bay when they came into port to collect cargo.I've not had much luck getting it to round, I'd love to see what flint looks like when thoroughly polished.
