I placed an internet order with Raytech eleven days ago. I have not received the item or any word back from them. I checked and they have not processed my credit card for the order. I tried calling them three times today and get the automated answering service (hate those things) and have selected three different extension options and with each got put on hold with what sounds like a 1940's orchestra music 78 being broadcast over an AM radio station during a lighting storm. Finally with the "Raytech Sales" extension selection I got a voice mail and left a message. Does anyone know what is going on at Raytech right now or how I can actually get to speak with someone there? Larry C.

Well I finally found out what the delay was with Raytech. I got a call from a representative from Lyman Products today. Lyman has just recently sold a portion of their Raytech Industries' Lapidary, line along with the stock of parts, to Scott Enterprises in Littleton, Colorado. Scott Enterprises purchased the rights to manufacture the Raytech-Shaw faceting machines a few years back and now will be manufacturing the Raytech diamond saws and accessories, the Diamond Jem and accessories, the Rayspray coolant systems, other Lapidary accessories and the Hustler Vibrating Lap. I consider this to be good news for lapidary enthusiasts! I've dealt with Rick Scott a number of times since he acquired the Raytech-Shaw faceting line and consider him to be a standup guy! Rick is also an active rockhound and a gem cutter himself. After I got off the phone with Lyman Products I gave Rick a call about the saw part I needed and had a good conversation with him. He plans on making a couple of improvements to the Raytech 10" slab saws, and has some other exciting things in the works that I will wait and let him announce when he is ready. If you need to order parts or otherwise get in touch with Rick Scott you can reach him at 1-800-303-2466 or 303-887-6942. Larry C.

Larry, did they take over the Raytech UV lights as well ? I need a new filter for an older Raytech light. I plan to pass it on to a friend, and want it in good working shape when I do.

No I don't think so. My understanding is Lyman kept the U.V. lights, the tumblers, the Nubond laps and the Blazer blades. Since Rick Scott will be making the Raytech saws along with the faceting machines he will be selling the Raytech Nubond laps and Raytech Blazer blades but Lyman still owns all of the rights to those laps and blades. Maybe he will bring back some of the many models Raytech dropped over the years. I stopped carrying their products a couple of years ago for several reasons but every year they dropped more lapidary related items. Scott can only improve on customer service for a traditionally good brand of equipment.

I stopped carrying their products a couple of years ago for several reasons but every year they dropped more lapidary related items. Scott can only improve on customer service for a traditionally good brand of equipment. From my experience with them I agree that when Lyman owned all of the Raytech lapidary line that customer service wasn't what it should have been. The people who own Lyman are primarily interested in the firearms industry. I have been told the only reason Lyman bought Raytech in the first place was to get the Raytech line of metal finishing Vibratory Tumblers, which Lyman has kept the rights to. To my knowledge I don't think anyone at Lyman had a personal interest in rocks or gems. Hopefully Rick Scott will successfully revive the Raytech lapidary line to it's former glory. I would love to see the Raytech S18a Slab Saw come back into production as long as the price can be kept competitive. Larry C.

Hi my name is Trinity. I am helping Rick Scott with marketing for the Raytech Saws.
Just a little background, in 2006, Rick started Scott Manufacturing and purchased the rights to the Raytech-Shaw Faceting machine. He has been manufacturing the machine and building that business for 8 years. Rick has made numerous improvements to the faceting machine and professional faceters and jewelers tell me it is one of the best faceting machines on the market. Rick also fixes the machines and supplies parts. He prides himself on customer service and works hard to keep prices steady while improving and maintaining quality. All parts and the machines are made in the U.S.
In June, Rick with his brother Reed, started Scott Enterprises and purchased the saws, the Hustler vibrating lap, many other laps (except Nubond) and the parts (not the lights, though). In the next few months he will be also acquiring the saw blades. This has been a huge transition, and he is still gathering information from Lyman. So, there may be some lag time for shipping out some of the products, however he is working daily to improve production and shipping time. Rick has a passion for the lapidary business and is happy to talk to anyone about the new company and the ideas for the future. He told me today that he wants to bring the Diamond Jem back online and sometime next year, he will be reviving the Raytech Cabochon machine. He is very excited about this new venture and I think in the years to come people will be impressed with the quality and service they receive from Scott Enterprises.
Please let me know if you have any questions, or you can call Rick at the numbers listed a couple of posts above or e-mail him at raytechshaw@bigplanet.com.

Any updates on Scott Enterprises ? Email contact or anything ? I just purchased an old Lyman 10" power feed saw. Same as the Raytech 10" saw. It would sure be nice to have a source for any needed replacement parts.
