From time to time I really get tired of the oily mess, the having to clean saws, having to replace cheap import bearings, etc.. So much so that I begin contemplating getting rid of most of my saws and focusing on something else. And then something unexpected happens like it did a couple of days ago when I made my second and third slices into a piece of Owyhee Picture Jasper and found these... To give a sense of scale the screen wire in the background is 1/4" mesh.

Wow, fantastically awesome! Those will make some great looking cabs. Solar flares? Or benthic animals of the abyss? Love that blue stripe going through as well.
Carry on! (Yeah, that's the reason you don't quit.)

Looks like the bottom of the ocean to me. Beautiful! What did the outside look like on that one?

Like junk bonds, some are cheap, most are not really exciting in the end, but some are skyrockets and worth every bit of effort expended. Congratulations, you just bought Apple on the first day. Tom

Those are prize-winners. Lucky you! Of course that's the kind of result we all hope for when we persistently put rocks in saws and deal with all the grunge.
