OK, I tried to reply earlier but couldn't get the message to post. I'm guessing that blade is a .014". All the really thin blades will have noticeable dings from straightening. I think it is done in a machine not by hand. On the .020" you can sometimes spot very light dings. Also the 8" X .025". Most of the thicker blades you won't notice any. The label looks a little scuffed like it was somebody's show stock or something unless it is just the picture. Was this blade shipped from the factory or a dealer? Thanks for your input John. I got this from an online dealer (yes, I am sorry I didn't just buy from you like I was planning). Anyway, it is a 0.020" blade. The Barrance/MK guy on the phone says they have a machine that they use to hand tune the blade. I have already spent a lot of time on this, and since the dings are not very deep as I mentioned, I will just go ahead and use it. If it has a problem though down the line because of this, they will hear back from me. BTW: I think true effective tensioning would involve dings coming from both sides, kind of like re-enforcement. But these are all on one side.

Dealing with Don at MK Diamond Direct has never been a very satisfying experience for me. Call Barranca Diamond Products and ask to speak to Frank, who is the Prez. and gives old Don a reason for being. Their info is: Barranca Diamond Products 1315 Storm Parkway Torrance, CA 90501 Phone: 310-523-5867 Toll-Free: 800-630-7682 Fax: 310-257-3063 E-mail: bdcs@barrancadiamond.com They are the"factory" and better equipted for such technical questions as "Why's my new blade F'ed up?" Actual place of manufacture is Korea. Hope this helps. Don't take no for an answer, you are to expect a blade without blemish when buying new. Good Luck! Mike. Mike, thanks for the info. I do have an email with the picture in to Barranca, but no reply yet. When I called Barrance they gave me the MK email address too. When (if) I get time and can get thru, I will call Frank and see what he says. Thanks again.

I had to purchase a new blade for my trim saw. I got a Baranca 303C in 6". When it came it had all these little dings on the inside surfaces. It is supposed to be brand new. When I wrote the seller he replied: "These marks are on all new thinner blades from Barranca, it is how they true the blades."
Is this true? The blade appears to be true, but I haven't mounted it yet to be sure. What do you all think?
Thanks for taking the time to post your experience with Baranca. Will be looking forward to a couple of things here? First of all what your reply is from Baranca? AND if possible, who the Seller is/was that is selling these? Again, thank you very much! IV

Just a thought for anyone who corresponds with this blade company to let them know that an info. sheet with a simple notification of what the marks are would save them a lot of time answering questions from concerned customers.

I'll mention it to the actual president (head of MK Diamond). I'll see him next month at Denver show. I'll be there with the head of BD (which is the lapidary division of MK) and will discuss it with him as well. The dings are pretty much a just the way it is thing. Frank is one of the customer service people and pretty helpful. All the e-mails are @mkdiamond.com and they will answer the phone MK. I don't know why when MK bought Star Diamond they didn't make it part of MK but ran it for 8 years under the BD name before merging into MK.
