A friend in Utah gave me the lead to this. Pretty cool looking. Talked to the gentleman on the phone. Collected at least 60 years ago. Was his grandfathers. For years he thought and told people that it was a fossil turtle. He's not much into fossils and it was passed down to him. I felt kinda bad having to tell him exactly what it is. Went from a fossil turtle to a fossil mudball. lol. One of the best looking turtle backs Ive ever seen. Also was able to make deal on a huge dino vertebrae that was his wifes grandfathers. Weighs around 40 pounds.

That turtle back soccer ball is about unreal. The pattern looks man made. That should adorn a perch somewheres in the house for sure.
Your vertebrae is a wake up call to how big those critters were. You can clearly see the load bearing flanges on that one. Megasupersaurous. I bet you and I could have taken it, in a Sherman tank.

Very cool !! Looking at the second picture from the top I would have said dinosaur egg. It reminds me of a cocoon.

Outstanding find, are you going to cut the turtle up? no Im going to leave it as is. There are thousands of cut septarian nodules out there. This one is best left as is. If cut this would lose its mojo. Ive seen quite a few septarian nodules and this one is literally the best representing turtle back Ive seen.

That is a great Turtle Back!!! The vertebrae really is a nice one! Gives a person a perspective as to how darn big those things were. Great finds.
