Great work! I'd say you are off to a good start. For doming the rounds- start at a place on the edge that you can easily recognize. Sweep from the edge to the center in a rocking motion, then move over a small amount to the next section and sweep to the center again. Keep doing this until you reach your spot and then go around again until you start to get a rise to the center all around. On the next few passes overshoot the middle to go to the opposite side of the cab. Do that until you are satisfied. I hope I explained that right. If not, I hope someone chimes in. I guess it's easier to see it done. (I only say this in case you didn't know- ignore me otherwise.)

I would love to see someone make a cab, in person, sometime. I have never seen it and think it would be fascinating to see someone else's technique. I would really enjoy seeing someone using a dop stick. I have never been able to use one successfully lol Those are some very nice looking cabs. I am looking forward to seeing more from you

nice looking material and looks like you have been very busy. Hoping to follow in your footsteps shortly... all the way to the jewelry making! keep posting your progress, very encouraging to others coming behind you.

I am looking forward to seeing more from you i have learned how to use the dopping sticks...my poor index finger cant take alot of 100 grit grinding..lol..i went to utube and watched some video's..i have never seen a cab made in person either , but it something i seem to learn fast and after the first 12 or so you start getting a clue of what and how to do it....and of course all the help from here..everyone does developed their own way for sure, but the basics are pretty much the same.. i precut over 200 cabs now the grinding begans..

I am looking forward to seeing more from you I learned the stick on my own. Bikerrandy taught me to cab freehand, but between short fat fingers, arthritis and long nails I switched to the stick. It's a little different. He marked the back of the stone, I mark the front of the stone. Now that I dop, I can't imagine how not to. Try it, it comes pretty naturally, I think.

I have a phobia about sticking my finger(s) into spinning tools that cut things. Some say you get a better "feel" when cabbing without a dop stick, but the only "feel" I get is my fingertips slowly disappearing. IMHO, you have better control of what you are doing using a dop stick. Yeah, it's an extra step, and sometimes the stones pop off, but with a little practice it's a whole lot easier, specially on small cabs.
