Just got back into the hobby, been busy slabbing to get some good material, but spun out these to test the girdle type and back cut. When I first learned, I was taught just high domes to sharp edge. Anyhow once I build out my new setup, I hope to do many more as I have filled a few 5g buckets now with slabs.

It took you 30 years to make these cabs?? Dang, you are slower than me haha. Just kidding.
Very nice looking cabs - what kind of setup are you planning?

I learned when I was about 9, played for a couple years with it till that C64 got me.
I am going to build a 8 wheel setup, 6 wheels on the shaft and two on the ends for polish. The key will be for me to have the wheels spaced out proper as I really want to do more knife scales. Right now it was very difficult on my setup a pair of wheels and a old flat lap.
Have slabbed up some awesome material lately and can't wait to cab more of it. Will be trying to make some basic settings just wire, but hope to get into silver smithing also.

Sure will, basically just going to be a 1inch shaft, threaded on ends left handed on the one side and tapped down each end as well. Will use PVC as spacers and jam it all together. The reason for nuts is that will hold the wheels still and I can swap the end polishers etc since the would be screwed on. Hope that made sense. Collecting parts now.

Good to have you on the board. I'm in your boat. I also took a 30 or so year break. One of your cabs looked to be Picasso Marble. Are you in Utah? I'm 45 mins. from the quarry where it is mined. Since you're making your own machine, be sure to check out this thread - forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/42508/homemade-10-wheel-arbor-150I later made an 8 wheel 8" machine which I've been using for 2 1/2 years.
