The rind looks like jade but it is pretty hard to tell from a picture. If you could tell us a little about it like where is is located (country, state) and a hardness it would help. A specific gravity test would help a lot also. Jim

They do resemble Agate/Chalcedony, but failing that, I'd guess Vesuvianite...Perhaps +/- Grossular.

I say agate full on. Have found numerous agates here with same rind.

The Kingston Agates I collect here in North Ga. have the same rind on them also.

Sure look like agate nodules to me. I seem to remember some of my agate books listing Sumatra as a good source for agate nodules. Wuuld be nice stuff if the banding more well developed....Mel

ad elsewhere for agatized fossil coral. You already know what it is. I call spam Actually snoman, he is trying to be friendly and have conversation with our members. Maybe even make new friends first, then perhaps sell. He seems to understand our need for familiarity before we buy from new members. cheapagate it does look like agate, is the color purple? or smoky?

This is my mistake too because I post my selling thread at my second threads (it's because I didn't know the rule of "selling" on this forum).

Cheapagate I love the coral! How do you get it? Some of us collect fossilized coral here in Ga. and Fla. in some of the rivers. Do you get yours out of water of some type or dig it some other way. Keith

Keith Hi Keith, the sumatran agatized fossil come from the river, the marshes, and the ground. But my agatized fossil corals are from the marshes and the ground. Whereas the agatized fossil corals that come from the river are located in Lampung province.
