Well I was half joking Mike I mean Van Buren is nasty area But you'd be surprised how clean up it is now That due to the light rail that runs down Washington the Motorola/Honeywell plant is still there as is AirResearch/Garret (which is now Honeywell) just south of Washington St. Do you re-call Bill Johnson Big Apple Restaurant ? I'm just a stone throw from there on world famous Polk St. O and us on Polk St. call Scottsdale ---Snottsdale--- its favorite area of mine

Snottsdale!!!! Yes I am familiar with why it's called that!! LMAO I remember Polk St. but not the place.. I have a cousin in Tempe and an Aunt in Glendale.. I did love the beauty of the desert, the trees and flowers were always in ahh with me.......... The day we moved there, our friends told us,to stay away from low areas during the rains...(flash floodings) Arizona was my 1st introduction to scorpions too,,LOL

A good friend moved to Queen Creek.. He grew up here in California and is a city slicker. Anyways, They had one of those dust storms that black out the sun and he thought it was the beginning of the Apocalypse haha!

right on vugs Queen Creek is happening area on the south side of the mighty Superstition Mountains Yep James these storms crop up quick microburst that cause lots of damage I’ve watched dust storms approaching since the 60’s --as a kid and try to judge the amount of time it would take for the wall of dust to hit you can get good at that enough time to just get in a final grind Ha Ha Maybe Mike the sign will jog your memory ? its great place for rock hound breakfast big inside w/a Lost Dutchman Gold Mine theme

Ah yeah, good ole AZ monsoons, got caught in on in Tempe one time, the only time I've ever been rained on in mud!! It's nice to be in the mountains in N Phx when those storms roll in from the south with the lightening lighting up the whole southern Valley. Gotta get back to AZ!!

mohs - I'm currently residing on the shores of Lake Erie in NE Ohio, but I'm working an angle to get the company I work for to move me out there on their dime!! I lived out there for 15 years, from University & Greenfield out in Mesa to Priest & Baseline in Tempe all the way up north to 19th Ave & Beardsley. I'm wasn't into hounding back then, which sucks cause I spent many hours in the mountains & trails north of Lake Pleasant up to Crown King (taking the back way) all the way up through Prescott & Chino Valley. Spent a lot of time wandering around on foot up by Sedona too. I'll get back out there as soon as I can, and I'll give everyone plenty of warning ahead of time!!

right on azgnoincYou certainly did miss out on the rocks especially in the chino valley area That 19th ave & Beardsley area, out in those fields, is/was one of favorite local hounding area. Can’t say I ever found the best material But I built a lot cairns Ha Ha Glad you yearn for AZ to some degree we could use the jobs I did live in your neck of the woods for one full winter. Michigan. That was enough for this desert rat. mostly Thanks Everyone! Ed
