Right, don't get too excited, it's only a few stones, and my picture taking is rubbish, got to build me one of those light boxes, been reading the heads up on how to take a photo lol. Anyway these guys have such a wonderful shine, just couldn't get it in the pic without loads of light reflecting. I am gong to try some under the magnifier later as the light is lovely and white plus i won't need the close up. I would apreciate any id's on these rocks as I have no idea, found them on the beach basically in two different locations, but just loved the look of them. Group photo I call this toffee lol otherside thanks for looking

Nice shine! I wasn't able to get a decent shine like that on my first few batches (they were all "frosted"). "Toffee" looks like the some of the cumbrian flint I found at Wetheral Station in The North. The little red one almost looks like it has an "eye". What did you use for your polishing stage?

Thanks very much Henry, 'Toffee' was found at Brancaster on the Norfolk coast. I'm now using cerium oxide. I was using Pumice but it didn't seem to be working and I was kindly sent a sample of cerium oxide, it's wonderful stuff.

Great looking stones.
Another week or two in the initial grind and you'd increase the final shine even more!

TIGERNice tumble. Is that your first polished batch? If so they turned out great. It took me several tries to get a polish that good. Lately I've been using tin oxide polish. It seems to give me a better polish but it's more expensive. Nice work

Very nice batch. #4 looks alot like the stuff I find on the beach in Tampa. It has alot of pinhead sized bugs which makes it really hard to get a smooth shine. It looks like crystallized... (Crap im having a brain fart). Its many different elements an partially clear in some spots to be able to see under the surface an see whatever was trapped in the process.
