The following plans and or pictures can be freely used to build your own equipment.
A Very Reasonably Priced
HOME MADE TUMBLER
I made the mechanism “holder” for my tumbler from an old wood lathe. Believe me I tried many things over the course of years, and the wood lathe seems to work the best for this type of tumbler. Best of all, you can pick up an old wood lathe at an auction for anywhere from $10 - $20, with a motor.
It seems like the woodworkers now days want that “new fangled” expensive digital equipment. That’s fine with me! There is not much that can go wrong with this apparatus.
Parts List:
→ used Wood Lathe 1/3 horse motor
→spindle shaft (has to be able to accept a pulley on each end)
→short spindle shaft to tighten belt
→an assortment of belts
→an assortment of pulleys
→assorted sizes of PVC pipe and caps.
Most of these items can be purchased at an auction very reasonably. I’m talking pennies on a dollar! In a matter of minutes, I can change pulleys and belts, and have a working wood lathe turning wood or Alabaster, or tumbling rocks. How much better can it get?

Good Tumbling to you! Enjoy!
Note: I have three different sized cannisters that will all fit into this wood lathe. I keep one strictly for polishing so it does not get grit into the rocks to be polished. It may look hard to make, but really it is not. Any questions, feel free to Email me.
For your info, a short 24 hours running makes a world of difference compared to the 3 weeks
a mfg unit requires.
