I have posted some tumbled cabs recently and thought I would explain what I was talking about when I mentioned cleaning up the girdle line after tumbling. When I tumble cabs I usually toss them into the vibe tumbler in 220 grit after it has been running for about 10-12 hours but even then the girdle line still gets rounded over. When I wire wrap I want a clean crisp edge to prevent the wires from sliding up the dome so all my tumbled cabs go back to the genie starting at the 220 wheel and get just the girdles re-done. Here's after tumbling And here's after going back to the genie for cleanup Chuck

Thanks for posting this. It reminds me ... I see so many cabs with the rounded over edge - some without an edge, at all. I used to think I did my cabs all wrong because I really like that sharp, crisp line as well.

Chuck, do you redo the flat edge of the cab or the edge of the domed part?

Nice Chuck. Not being a wrapper I am guilty of rounding my girdles even on my hand polished cabs. I will tune up my program for cabs destined for the wire...thanks for the learning op. Cheers

Chuck, do you redo the flat edge of the cab or the edge of the domed part? I re-grind the entire girdle after the tumble which cleans up the radius at the domed side and at the back side. When I am done there is no way anybody would ever know the cab was tumbled. All of this is personal preference stuff. I just thought I would throw it out there in case it could help anyone. Chuck

Chuck the pro wire 3rappers out west take a cab they buy and immediately scruff the girdle up on a grinding wheel to help steady the cab for wrapping. The wire covers the girdle so you can see it. These are 250 dollar pendants made from hi end stuff. As a cabbed I just can't bring myself to do it!
