After reading the reports on here about meteors and volcanoes and etc..... Has anyone ever been to an area where an explosion has a cured? While living in North Dakota, there was a natural gas explosion not to far from where I lived... They roped off the area where the damage was made, for about a week for an investigation... After the investigation was finished, the clean up crew started coming in and working on the pipeline and building,to rebuild it... The explosion was so hot that it melted the sand and dirt into a weird type of glass!!!! Since I worked in the oilfields back than I got to see the damage the natural gas explosion done to the area... Not to be morbid, it was crazy cool!!! No camera back in those days..(Damn). Has I was walking and looking,I picked up some of the glass that was made,it was very fragile, but transparent in color like calcite.. I think if I look hard enough I still might have some... Ok,has anyone ever been to any site like that, maybe a huge fire, explosion or etc? ? And found weird stuff made from it...

Mike, back when I was a kid, a local aircraft factory had a magnesium fire. I remember the concrete slab under the fire had turned to glass.

Trinitite resulted from early nuclear tests (Trinity) in the New Mexico desert and apparently fused sand to glass which can still be found.
Moldavite found in Czeck is believed to be the result of a meteor impact (big explosion) that fused sand to glass.
Technically, any high silica content rock should be able to be melted and form a glass-like substance if enough heat can be generated.
