Gonna start throwing a few pieces of aventurine into my rough grind as I pull other pieces out... is there anything special to look out for? I suspect it will tumble real nice. I am lucky to have a good source not far away... a few hours hounding can get me as much as I want to carry... Heres an example. I have pieces from marble size to football size...

What are you adding it to? Aventurine is kinda soft compared to jaspers & pet wood isn't it?

yep, I would run it by itself, or with rose quartz, amethyst, clear crystalline quartz. put a couple in to try w/agate and wood. after about a week pull them out and let them dry real good. if the edges are whiter(frosted) go ahead and throw them away. Run them alone with a bit fuller barrel to soften the impact and you will have beauties, and they will tumble faster than agate/wood. It is softer, and variable, some a good bit softer than others. you're lucky you got access to it. Looks like you may have some mica in it and get a glitter. Great color too. Good on you.

Use lots of cushion because the thin edges on aventurine tend to bruise up with lots of little micro dings. Gives the edges a frosted look sometimes. Sometimes the mica flakes break out leaving tiny pits too....Mel

yeah, its rolling a mix of stuff right now... lil agate, lil wood and a bunch of other stuff that is just random rocks that I wanted to see how they'd tumbler... few big nice pieces of jasper.
Anyhow, I threw that one piece of aventurine in there last night... I'll roll it till Sunday and take a look... my barrel will be due for a clean out then...
