Been a rockhounder since I was a little kid... now FINALLY into tumbling... gotta get a saw and some grinding and polishing wheels in the next year though...
Anyhow... I have hounded across Washington, Idaho and Montana quite a bit through the years. I just moved into a new house (my house... recent divorce...) and have the freedom to put rocks anywhere I'd like! And wanted to share. I'll add some pics now and again!
My kitchen window sill...
Mostly stuff from trips the last year, but the carnelian is from 1997 while working on streams in southwest Washington!
This a really purty little agate framed in a window of parent rock...
A Bear Canyon Agate.... rough. Pretty hard to come by nowadays I guess. I bought it from the rock shop in Thermopolis, WY...
I picked up a little polished one too...
Couple elk ivories I like to keep out... along with a couple pieces of Aventurine from a local collecting site... buddies dad has a saw...
The cut piece of aventurine...
This is a cool rock, I know many of you are familiar with it...I dont know what its called AND I CANT REMEMBER where I got it... I would go back and get more!!
And then there is this... probably the most confounding rock I have ever found... and over the las near 40 years I've picked up a lot of different rocks. This rock was found on a mid stream gravel bar on the yellowstone river just after high water subsided in late June... It confounds me that its not man-made, but the prospect of it being man-made is just about Nil considering when and where I found it, in the midst of a massive bar of cobble and rubble and gravel mid stream in the Yellowstone.... its natural... or maybe ALIEN! ;0) I keep thinking its got to be some sort of key to the universe or something, I just need to know how to activate it!!
Another view... notice the triangular shape... But then a perfectly triangular raised section... Got any ideas??? How the heck could it be like this after tumbling in the Ystone for how many thousands of years?
Thats it for now!! I'll post some fossil pics when I find them... then some of my other stuff as time goes by and the snow melts this spring!
