Well I found this in a place that has fossils, petrified wood, amber, and other similar stuff. This caught me off guard because it is white and after looking at it I think it could be a part of a bone or probably a tooth if I had to guess... could be verry strange petrified wood though.. It was on the spree slope so next time I go back i'll look for the source (didn't have time when I found it). I can say it is sedimentary whatever it is... but there is hardly any white stuff in that area.

how can bone, wood, or tooth be sedimentary? Maybe he meant sedentary. I like it when my rocks are sedentary, it's easier to sneak up on them.

I'm going to say,it's just a white colored regular rock, brought in by the waters or glaciers........

Quote: "It was on the spree slope." You meant to say "scree" slope, of course--a usually unconsolidated accumulation of eroded rock debris from places higher up.
At any rate, it doesn't look organic to my eye. I would be interested to see proved paleontologic remains from that area, though--the "petrified wood, amber, and other similar stuff" about which you speak.
Also, by "sedimentary," I assume you mean to say that the material which forms the scree slope is sedimentary, so the mystery specimen obtained there must also belong to that category of rock classification. I would need to know the approximate location of the outcrop in order to conlude a sedimentary identification. The photograph alone provides inconclusive evidence.

The rock was found in the Chickaloon Formation. Heres some pics of pet wood and amber I found. In this specific area all there is no glacial rock apart from what was brought in on the roads.. There is massive conglomerates so its possible it could have came off one of those.. It does have some faint lines in this piece which makes me think it is not just rock
