Yup, oolite. When the orbs are larger, pisolite ( fish egg chert). I little seems to occur in lots of agate, chert, and jasper deposits....Mel

Looks like a nice solid piece. It'll cut interesting cabs. I have a couple of large pieces to slab after we thaw out. Not a good pic, but your material will look like this.

I will have to find someone to slice and dice it... I think I may just throw it in some 220 and roll it for a bit, then in the polish... can cut it later...
hmmm... maybe I should be looking for a saw!!

If I can pry one of my chunks of oolite out of the ice, I'll have to get a pic of it with a piece of palm fiber beside it. The two can often look nearly the same, and can fool you.

The little dark eye in the center of the oolite orbs can look almost identical to the dark eye in the center of many palm fiber bundles too.

This Rio orbicular just posted. Same constant size orbs. Dots in center. The orbs left whole, matrix worn away, making whole orbs at surface. The spacing of the orbs in hornseeker's and the way it was floating in the clear matrix messed with me. Agates often more transparent up Montana way, red/yellow/orange in Texas.
