I have spent way to long looking at all of the great photos everyone posts, so I am excited to join in the conversation. I have collected rocks since I was a kid, and since moving to Bozeman in 07 the piles have only gotten taller. I don't do any lapidary work yet, but i am working on building a very large tumbler in the near future.
Excited to make friends, cheers

The smart man living in Bozeman will hook up with the Bozeman rock club. You won't be sorry.

Thankyou! Yes I have considered joining the group, but I haven't gotten around to it. I have done well on my own mainly because I have three dogs that need to run a lot and not very many people want to put up with that haha. I usually take them to the Yellowstone a couple times a week and just pick rocks and fish. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

I have been trying to put a couple pictures up from my iPad photo library and it won't let me. Any ideas on what is going on?

You have to post pictures somewhere else. Popular places are photobucket and Flickr. I prefer Flickr because it has almost unlimited storage. Once your pictures are uploaded to Flickr, chose a picture, then click the share arrow in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Welcome to the forum. Get to finding some of those gorgeous Sapphires out there! As a teenager, I spent a winter in Anaconda and always wanted to return and settle out there, but just never made it. Don't think I could take the winters anymore

Don't think I could take the winters anymore I still haven't found a sapphire here yet, but I am going this summer for sure. And ya the winters are brutal. We have had a few good weeks this winter and I managed to do some searching. But that is rare for here.

Welcome aboard from a neighbor over in South Dakota. Hey, if you can catch him on here, you should try to meet up with mtmadman (Bob) forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/user/5314He lives over in Billings, and knows all of the hot collecting places over that way. Unfortunately he's a trucker and only gets a couple weeks per year at home, so he's hard to catch up with. Oh, and he loves dogs, so yours will be no problem as long as they don't try to eat his toy poodle. Don

Welcome! I go back to Montana once a year to see family. That's a Montana sapphire in my avatar, from P-burg.
Lots of nice folks here, you'll have a great time.
