It seems this last week has been tough with Thunder and Goober passing. In the morning my 13 year companion,Hershey, the Boxer in my avatar will too.My brother is a veterinarian and will put him to sleep.A long life for a Boxer. He beat the odds being chewed up and nearly killed by coyotes and survived being hit by a car on a busy highway near my house. He at least wont suffer anymore if he is in pain. One memory will always stand out from many.He was born a few weeks before my oldest grandson. My grandson at his first Christmas received a vibrating rubber ball that bounced and rolled on its own.As it rolled across the room,my grandson crawled toward it.Seeing this,Hershey ran and placed his paw on my grandsons back to keep him away from that weird thing, and held him down. Was always protective of family members.I'll miss the old boy. snuffy

I'm so very sorry Snuffy. I have no words to ease the heartache you must be going through. A special prayer tonight for both you and your boy
Rest in Peace Hershey

Sad week for sure. I am at an age now where I can get another dog because it will probably out live me. The last one put an end to pets for me. Jim

sad to lose an old friend. they leave such heart ache but so many wonderful memories. Prayers for comfort and peace... we are richer for having them though they break our hearts.

Have been concerned about Hershey for a while. Knew he lived a long life for a Boxer. Testimony to snuffy's TLC. He will be missed. Hang in there snuffy.

I'm so sorry Snuffy. This has indeed been a tough week for our pets. As Thunder said, they give us unconditional love and loyalty. More than that, they are members of our families. To most of us, they're our kids. Loosing a loyal companion is every bit as hard as loosing a human member of our family.

So sorry to hear about Hershey. Take consolation knowing you provided a great life for him and recount the joy he brought to your life and you to his.
My old eyeballs are leaking as I write this as I feel your sadness all to well. Just a short month ago, we said goodbye to Geronimo, our 15 year old Pug. Even though I know I should practice what I preach above about "taking consolation", it doesn't lessen the emptiness the passing of a beloved pet leaves in our hearts and minds
Give him a few extra ear scratches for me before tomorrow

Snuffy, so sorry to hear of your loss. Hershey was a very special boy, and I know you will miss him. I hope that Buddy will be able to help ease your pain.
I've had to put down several dogs in my lifetime, and it doesn't get any easier. But know that you granted him the ultimate kindness, putting him to sleep so he is no longer in pain. Remember all the good times you had with him during his long life. Jean

So sorry, snuffy. That picture of him in the leaves just broke my heart. Not like yours, but broke just the same...
