This isn't about home made equipment, but I figure if you read this section, you make machines & repair them. I'm switching wheels on a Raytech 8" 4 wheel arbor with motor & speed changer on top. The new wheels have hubs as wide as the rim of the wheel (2"), but the old wheel hubs are recessed. I need to subtract the recess from the center spacer tube shown in the photo. This will put the wheels in the same position on the shaft as the old ones. If I don't shorten the spacer, each wheel will be the distance of the recess further away from the center. I'm not sure if the nuts are threaded onto the tube, or if they're solely held on by the setscrews & rock snot. The large flanges are spot welded to the nuts. I've loosened the set screws, but can't get the nuts to budge with just crescent wrenches. Before I get my big wrenches out, I'd rather hear from someone who's familiar with this machine. I know there are a lot of them around. Thanks in advance, Lynn

I don't think the nuts/spacers are probably original Raytech. Loosen the setscrews and see if they come apart. I would love to see a pic of the rest of the machine and wheels, your description and the picture in my mind don't match.
