Regarding the Miller table. What do you think if I added on a Martin gold cube stop mat on the last 4 inches of a 18 inch table after the Hobbico mat, you think it would catch anything including small pickers that could slide off the Hobbico mat. Have any of you tried this rubber matting before? Thanks. With a miller table all the gold should stay at the top 6" of it. Just have to get the flow correct. Also use a paint brush to to move any rollers back up. They work great once you get them set. I prefer to use a cleanup sluice. It gets about 80% of the black sands out. Good advice here. Once set up properly and with the material classified into 30, 50 and 100 grit, the Blue bowl is the schizzle. The Vortex gold mat is supposed to do just that. A cleanup mat, then run the cons on the Hobbico mat. I couldnt make up my mind so i just made another table with the Vortex matting. This what I'm talking of. Thanks Bushman.

I like the setup with the miller insert. I think I might build one myself. Thanks for posting.

If anyone is interested in watching videos of a miner prospecting his claim. These are great vids he has made to document his trials. There is a few years worth of vids. This guy is 3 1/2 miles down stream of my claim. Hard working family man. Great scenery and gold. www.youtube.com/user/hixonAu#p/u/9/BLXjgrCFKfU

I was meaning to show you all the results of my home made Miller table. All plastic, table levelers on the back and front, and adjustable water flow tap. I added in the sponge to break and smooth the flow of water coming out from the pipe. Its all compact to fit in a plastic tote, like in the youtube vid and runs off a 12 volt pump or garden hose. The black mat is to trap gold that is in larger sized concentrate that needs to be run before the hobbico mat, it just s toss on I want to try out. All I need now is a nice sunny warm day to try it outside rather then sitting in the house running it off the pump.

That looks great. I just bought my stuff tonight. I'm still waiting for my pump to arrive. My Hobbico mat is much smoother on the back than on the front. I thought it was going to have a little more texture.
I wasn't able to find a plastic hose connector, so I had to buy a more expensive metal one. Did you find a plastic one?

Awesome build Spiritstone. I like the sponge idea. Not only smooths out the flow but eliminates the air bubbles. Fine gold can be carried out with bubbles,

Bushmanbilly, thanks for the videos-should be some great watching........... Glad you like them. They are entertaining and informative. He must be doing good he quit his day job. Got to hand it to him, he done a hell of a lot of hand digging. Kinda nice that I can learn a lot from his work with my claim.

My Uncle Henry had a gold claim going in Montana too..He would stay up there for three to four months at a time..Did really good! My cousin Larry would go up there once in awhile and help out, small operation ,but it was all his... They had to carry weapons with them at all times, because of claim jumpers and etc.... Uncle would show me the goodies he found in his area, sometimes sapphires too..........After he passed away, his wife sold the claim to Uncles best friend..

Fossilman, I built most of Henry's traummel(sp)then later on my kids and I went up to Henry's claim and I did some welding on his equipment. We camped there one night and had a great time. Henry spent some time with the kids showing them how everything worked and the end result. He had the kids pretty spooked about the bear that always visited him. Not sure if they slept at all that night.
It is pretty sad that he passed away before he got to enjoy the money. Saved all the gold and I will bet his wife lived pretty high after he died. Actually she lived pretty high before he died because she was fooling around with Frenchy when Henry was gone. Jim

Yep, all the parts are plastic. When I get a chance to fine tune the slope degree, I'm going to take off the back legs and toss on a permanent post attached to a swing hinge. Leave the front on for leveling and cutting a lid to fit. Still waiting for my vortex matting. The supplier cut it to the size of the hobbico mat so I can swap between the two. Thanks all, for the compliment.

Watched all 13 parts last night, skipped into the dig most of the time but it was interesting to see what he was looking for to follow the Ancient river system. I got lucky and found some old maps of the N.Sask ancient river system recently. A lot on private land but going to have to take a drive and see if i can access any of it still under crown ownership. Thanks Bushman.

Maps of the N. Sask is a nice find. Hope they are for the Devon area. There is a farm I would give my left one for by the Genesee Bridge. That farm sits on two really big benches. The lower has a gravel pit that has gold in it.

I tried my Miller table out this weekend. I built it pretty much exactly like the one in the video. It works great on my Lake Superior black sand with very small gold in it.

Off to the claim today. Will be out there for a week of digging and testing the ground. Also will be back in Agate territory for my first hounding of the year. Hopefully I will have some nice golden pic's to post here in a few days.

Henry also had a safe in his office at home, full of goodies-he showed me once, what was in it-Gold (Huge pieces),Sapphires,Huge garnets,Rubies, many other gems also... Told me to keep quite about it too, didn't want Judy to know of his stash.... One day,you and I will sit down, sip on a beer and (or) coffee and BS! Thumbs up - I don't air in public my friend..
