I have an area that is on private party, that I hunt river rocks.....This spring came early here in Oregon,so they started spraying early with their trees...So nobody was allowed on their property till they were finished!! So I waited for two weeks..GRRRR!!! LOL Yesterday was a go,so I packed up my tools, buckets, water, lunch and bags..........Got to the area and realized I was the 1st one there for the season.... This gravel bar on the Willamette River (Oregon) is huge and it payed off yesterday!! SCORE!!!! And TWO THUMBS UP!!! These are just the few I found.. Also found Jaspers of every color.. Nice piece of petwood...........I also found many for my tumblers..(small) My favorite find of the day!!! Going to shave one side, polish it and its going in my collection... I found more Carnelian agate yesterday, than I did the whole season last year... White Carnelian agate...

Great finds. I look forward to seeing that pet wood polished. Glad you were there first to get the good finds.

Uh jealous...very jealous. Stunning finds!! I completely understand the feeling of being "the first person there". Some of my co-workers look at me funny or just "smile and nod their heads"...when I mention something like this.

Almost any stone or pebble can be handled better if stubbed on a wood post and cut in a vice rather than by hand. I cut a lot of beach pebbles and some come out as practically instant cabs. You've got some good prospects for showing off that carnelian if you slice them. Enjoy. Tom

I have about 10 to 15 rocks on sticks(as I call them) getting cured now-just wacked 15 others this last week...Yes,that's the way to go with small stuff! Thumbs up

Which cabbing unit have you been thinking about purchasing, Fossilman? Or are you thinking about refurbishing one? I think some of the older cabbing units are like muscle cars and deserve some TLC to get back to work.
