Hey all you RTHers in and around Houston, how about we set up a meeting somewhere and chew the fat over some coffee? We are starting to get so many down that way, and I for one would love to come down there and just sit and chat with you guys and gals. What ya think? We can do this.... Sept 5 and 11 are both out for me. Doctor appointments. We can do it on weekends if that would help.

Oooh, I'd love to do that, but I'm not exactly next door. In fact, some say El Paso should be a part of New Mexico.

Hey Gil......just for this little get-to-gather we will declare El Pase as an official suburb of Houston....
And it would be wonderful if you could come on down too.

Hey Tom, that's a good idea. I'm sort of tied up for the next month or so but would be able to attend if it's in mid Oct. or later. Dan

Let's plan a date and see what happens. I am open. Since I do not know the Houston area, perhaps someone from there could pick a meeting place. My thoughts on this was that we could all get together and sit around chatting about rocks and stuff. Just a way to relax a little and get out now and then.

Count me in. I had noted that the Houston Gem and Mineral Society show is Sept. 21-23. Want to meet there? Or we could hook up at Jeanne's Rock and Jewelry (one of the few rock shops in Houston), look at some rough and get a bite nearby. There's a great burger and gyro joint just down the street. Of course, bars are always an option. What's your pleasure?

I'm still hoping to make the Gem show but it's tentative right now. My wife is having back surgery on Wed. this coming week and the recovery is fairly long. Dan
I've always wanted to have a get together for S. Central TX rockers at my mom's place in Bastrop. It's only a 2 hr drive from Houston and it might be close enough for the S. Texas members to join us as well. I know the former Pres. of the Austin Mineralogical Society who is an expert flint knapper. Maybe I could convince him to give us demonstration. Also, there is a great rock shop in Smithville which is short drive from Bastrop and/or we could go hunting for Pet Wood and Palm in the Lost Pines area.
I was thinking sometime in late Oct. or Nov. (not during Jamie's trip of course) would be best so that it won't be too hot. I'm sure my mother and step father would love to have us.
Does this sound like a good idea or would it be too much trouble?

I'm game Dan...sounds good for me. Hope you wife does well in her surgery. If there is any thing I can do to help out just let me know. When my wife had hip surgery I had to put in a ramp on the deck so she could get in and out. So if you need anything done around the house to help her get around, I can bring my table saw and tools and we can get it done.

Sounds like a great idea, Dan. I started thinking after I posted last night that picking a spot outside Houston might work better for travel times for others. Bastrop sounds like a lot of fun. Count me in. Has anybody heard from Sandy (Pagstones)?
