Got back into the HGMS shop this weekend. It wasn't perfect, by any means, but overall a good couple days in the shop. Amazonite. I love this stuff. Not entirely sure what this is, aside from a multi-layered stone with amethyst at the bottom. This was a test piece to see how it would cab (hence the goofy shape). Chinese writing stone. I didn't get a high gloss on it, but it's a little shinier than depicted. It awaits a glue-on bail. Sodalite White crazy lace. A very slight yellow and pink began to appear during the grinding. Amethyst lace. Came out very thin as I tried to even out slab of varying thickness. Montana agate. This was a second attempt on this particular stone, which also led to a thinner than expected cab. I really like the way the cracks made this look, but I was nervous the entire time I was grinding away. Finally, brecciated obsidian. This, as I have mentioned before, is really brittle stuff. In fact, this slabbette was twice this size when I started. It broke, which also explains the less-than-sharp angles. But I love this material. And a group shot of everything I worked on. Thanks for looking. Matt

Those are some really beautiful pieces Matt. And that "goofy shaped" one is my favorite. Looks like one of those super fancy desserts they show in the magazines and TV. Great work on all!

Great set. Is that wood in agate in the center?

Sweet shiny cabs, textiger! I really like your brecciated obsidian cab and have not seen that material before.

Thanks for the kind words. Toad, I don't believe that is wood in the center of that clear agate. I picked that up years ago and cannot remember what it is. It was a rather thin slab to begin with and it wore through to the material inside in a couple spots, which do not shine like pet wood does.
