I'm driving to Lethbridge AB in a couple of weeks and wondering if there is any places to try and stop by. I'm going across South Dakota and Montana.
I was wondering about Sapphire Mountain? Not sure if it is too far out of the way or worth stopping at it.
Going to drive thru Glacier National Park on the way back I think and perhaps a stop Devil's Tower.

Might as well give the Fairburn Agate Beds a shot if you are near the SW side of South Dakota. If you aren't too picky about only picking up Fairburns, which are few and far between, you could find some nice Prarie Agates, Bubble Gum Agates, Pet Wood, or fossils.

When my Bride and I stopped we didn't find Fairburns but we sure found other nice stuff. The one thing I do know is if you don't look you will not find any...........................MrP

Other then hunting Fossils your not in a very good area. A lot of Ammonite, but permits needed up the arse to obtain some and hard to get into the river valley due to property and trespassing rights. Which hiways are you taking in and out? I might be able to help you more. Bushman is closer to you then me. Maybe he may know of a few areas. There is Hands hills for agate,jasper,etc... except I think it would be a little out of your way and difficult for you to find the location not being from out here.

If you r coming through Sweetgrass, You could try the Milk River gravels for agate, jasper and pet-wood. Also fossils, dino eggs were found on that river. How far north are you going. Grassy lake has Amber. I will do some digging and see if I can find more info for you.

The dino eggs are found in Devils Coulee by Warner. Along with other cretaceous fossils.
Ammolite along the Mary's River. This is west of Magrath. Be careful not to hunt on the Blood Indian Reserve. And there are also rattlers everywhere I mentioned.
