Been wanting to make us a matching set for a long time and just never knuckled down and did it until yesterday. I made the mistake of showing her the ring and doing a trial fitting it before I did the final cleanup and then remove surface scratches and polish. It was a chore just to get it away from her for a picture. It's a pretty special ring as the small nuggets were some I found while we lived in California. 22 ga sterling sheet cut to size, then two lengths of 14 ga square sterling wire silver soldered on the edges. 14 karat Gold plumb solder was cut in tiny snippets, flattened on the anvil and placed in the center of the band. The nuggets were then placed on top of the flattened solder and the piece heated to about 1,400 degrees to flow the solder and join the nuggets to the silver so they will never come loose. Hoping I can start on mine soon, but the schedule is hectic and customers orders come first

That's super cool. I have a bunch of gold I found. Unfortunately, you need a magnifying glass to see them. All together my gold wouldn't amount to one of your nuggets.

I really like the clean lines of the ring and the organic shape of the nugs---killer execution on that one. Look forward to seeing the match...Cheers

Great design, I love the way the nuggets are incorporated and protected too.

Beautiful ring, you may have to steal it from her when she is sleeping:)

Beautiful ring, you may have to steal it from her when she is sleeping:) We both wear our 24/7 and only rarely pull them off. I finally got it off her finger and finished filing, sanding and polishing, so I'm much happier with it now One word of caution to anyone using natural Gold nuggets. They are quite soft and the polishing wheel will smooth them out in nothing flat!

I like the mixed media. Are gold nuggets different Karat? Are nuggets from the same place the same Karat?

I like the mixed media. Are gold nuggets different Karat? Are nuggets from the same place the same Karat? Natural Gold nuggets are quite soft and usually around 20 to 22 karat in purity. Jewelry Gold is alloyed to 10,14 and 18 karat as a general rule Yes, Gold from different locations can vary in both color and purity. For instance, Australian nuggets are typically at the higher end of the purity scale and Alaskan at the lower end

Most likely they are close to 24 carat, depending on impurities, at any rate they will be soft.
