Well I got a flight booked for Wednesday...A friend of a friend works for Delta Airlines and got me on standby, for a very reasonable price (just pay the taxes on the ticket)... Did a lot of that in the Army-Probably be staying a week to be by his side.. They have a cot in his room,I can crash there.....Two thumbs up

Fossilman, I'm so glad that Travis spoke up about being in pain and has been moved to another hospital to receive top-notch care. Wishing you a safe trip on Wednesday, and keeping Travis and your family in my prayers.

Just had his 3rd surgery lastnite, they finished him up as the last one-from 8:35 pm to 11:pm...No food intake for 34 hours,he was hungry!!!!!!! He now had the HBO hook up now and they stitched him back up,with the drain tubes in his arm.... He is in great spirits today,Libbi says he is trying to get out of bed and trying to walk, but just isn't quite there yet,but told her he will try again today-he wants to walk!!!!! They removed the capiter,.(hated having it on)!!!!! ...........He is back on fluids again too............ They both use the old saying "One day at a time"! Making the old man feeling better too,was very stressed and bummed out..............We parents hate seeing our kids hurt! Adults or not! Thank you for letting me vent....And share.......

God bless your son and the rest of your family!
I've gotta say, I know so many who have been killed or injured badly (including my own son) on those ATVs...I know some love 'em, but they sure are death traps.

Oh, sorry if I misled, MrP. My son didn't die, but did lose about 70% of the use of his right hand. He was one of the more fortunate ones!

Travis had his fifth surgery yesterday, another surgery coming up Thursday...The good news is,his arm is on the mend!!! The Doctors say because of Travis being a strong young man,the healing is coming along nicely... They started stitching him up yesterday too, five inches at the wrist area and 7 inches at the shoulder... They want to get the healing process going,so there will be less grafting to do on his arm... I leave early tomorrow morning to be with him,so will be off the grid so to speak....Hoping to stay at least a week, before I have to head back home.... Travis has a good spirit, strong mind and heart and is pushing forward with this serious injury!!!! He told me that some life decisions have been made on his part, all to the better! The bad habits are gone! Life is to short for that anymore,he says! It's so true! Well my friends keep the house clean and the doors shut at night-see ya' all when I get back!!!! The "Foss"..........

Well I'm back home, flew in yesterday......Kind of bitter sweet situation, missing Travis and my wife at the same time! As far as we know,he does get to go home Saturday to be with his family and let the healing start. The skin grafting went good, but brought a whole new level of pain..(grafts came off his upper left thigh area)..Plus stitching his arm up.. They were dealing with that during the last few days I was there... I know he is a tough trooper, but pain is pain! Plus they are whining him off the hard drugs for his transformation home.... So the fight is on and he will get through this situation too! Two thumbs up. His walking, doing the bathroom by himself and just training him to use the right arm and hand for everything is going good..He is a very independent guy... I stay in communication with him and the healing and rehabilitation starts now...... Thank you for listening, that's about all a guy could ask for.....

Also,if the nerves don't start giving him abilities with his hand, fingers and etc....He will be back to the hospital in St.Paul for one more surgery, that would be in four months... The stay won't be as long either....

Good news and good to get off the pain killers. I lost a leg and pain killers are a two edge sword. Withdrawal is hell, I made it and so will your son. Tell him I said to just go for it when they cut off the morphine etc and vomit and feel like sh!t and put one foot in front of the other as life goes on. Then vomit some more, cry, cuss, pray and be proud that you chose pain and free life over pills and vomit and cry and one day instead of pain your brain will say it's pressure or heat or odd feeling. This is the beginning of the good things in life instead of the unending litany of pills.
I pray gor all where prescription addictions takes hold!!!

That is great news Mike! Being home is the best medicine. Fingers crossed that rehab goes well for Travis.
Also hope he has great insurance. A month in a hospital and all that surgery had to cost more than my house.
