Just a fun piece I worked up a little while ago. I did this one with a couple of others but this was my favorite of the batch. First burnt edged pieces and a lot of fun to do!!!! Working on shop configuration at present but will be posting again soon! Smithing really does open up a lot of different avenues for finishing the stones!!!

Hi Pat, For some stones, like this one, it give a nice raw, organic, unstructured feel to the piece and I liked the idea of that. I wouldn't use the method for all work but for this, it really worked well!!! I usually go for very structured designs... Which are fun in their own way too, but this was just a very free and easy kind of process. I think that whether or not it works really depends upon the stone or the subject matter of the composition. I'll post the other two here so you can see as well...

Hey Girl! Those are really GREAT! I love that organic look! The first one is especially awesome. Your work looks soooooo good. Your bezels are so neat and your soldering is clean and awesome. You have really come a long ways in a short time. Speaking of bezels- did you make yours? They look thicker than usual. Just wondering- they look awesome.

Tovio, grab a bag of peanuts, a towel and an pint of beer and hang on. Your universe is about to change.
Tela, OMG!!!! When I first started with Conrock, I was so afraid of the torpedoes that arrived in the mail when I thought I ordered a torch that it took a month of my husband Tom and Conrock making me carry them around with me everywhere I went In the house ... Including next to the bed when I slept, to get used to them that I never even conceived of getting to the point where I might think smithing was fun! That was a long time ago, but Conrock stuck with me and my Tom did too and through all of the tears and screw ups and life in general, I can actually start to play now. These are all copper bezel wire that I got drom rio. I've got about 90 thousand feet of it on a spool because that's the only way I could get it but it's good for starting with and fun to do stuff like this with. Thick...probably. Fun...definitely! I recommend doing cheap Copper for anyone starting out because If you can do it in copper, you can definitely do it in silver!!! Silver is a ton easier!!!!! Anyway, great to hear from you!!! Up to my eyeballs in rock right now so catch you as we go!!!!!
Tovio... The ride gets bumpy at times and babble fish help. Beware of Vogon poetry and enjoy the ride!!!!
Conrock, I will ALWAYS be proud of you!!!!!!
Much love,
Cathy
