So, I went to a local rock & gem show today and met a gentleman who's helped organize a trip to the Polka Dot Agate Mine in Madras, Oregon in September. This is a rare, one-time opportunity to self-collect this beautiful rock from the owner's mine. It's a three day event: September 5th-7th. There's no entry fee. You only pay for what you can collect at $3.00/lb. This rough can go for considerably more money through third party vendors, so this is an amazing opportunity. I'm supposing,it all depends on where the fires are at now.....Hopefully its still safe in that area....

We may stop by on Labor day on the way to the Rockhound Retreat. Dale has to be one of the nicest rock dealers around, we may just dig through the bins at the top of the hill. He will have stuff from the amythyst sage claim. maybe opal butte eggs too.
