The Government is continuing to close roads in our area. What will we do when a fire traps us because of this stupidity? From rockpowell:

Dave, Did they close part of Pinto Rd itself, or some road that spurs off of it? In was at Holt Canyon on Sat. We went via Newcastle. Lynn

The Right of Free Travel, means that you can move your ass on your own two legs. Sure, hoof it in 10 miles, rockhound, and hoof it out 10 miles back to your car. Sounds reasonable, especially for a hobby that is dominated primarily by retired, disabled, and elderly folk. Just wait until it happens to your favorite rockhounding areas. Dixie National Forest is a huge district and covers several mountain ranges throughout utah. I can find nothing online that corroborates with pygmy rabbit populations in southwestern Utah where this road closure occurred. It's a boondoggle to close access so the NFS can save a few bucks on having to look after it.

Based on the report you listed Shotgunner, it looks like this is all about oil and gas leasing.......this is starting to smell real bad.
Last year there were signs posted through part of that region regarding noxious weed abatement, interesting that it is one of the issues (#9) in the report. As I recall the signs warned about wearing protective masks during the abatement activity. I wonder if they issued masks to the pygmy rabbits?

Population Saturation. What's the Answer? Is a totalitarian government controlling the movement of it's people (may I see your papers?) in any way a viable answer? If we the people are to have liberty we should be free to travel on OUR land, If access is restricted we become the subjects of an oligarchy, or has that already happened and you're too young to know what free felt like?

Population Saturation. What's the Answer? Are you really justifying the closure of some of the states most remote areas because of welfare babies in the cities? helens returned?
