That is what my cancer doctor said I have. It's not cancer, but a protein that the bone marrow makes. It's called the M-protein and is not harmful in the numbers that are showing up in the blood. She said that it could develope into a cancer called MULITPLE MYELOMA at some point in the future. We will do labs and x-rays every 6 months to keep a watch on the numbers. Some of my blood labs came back a point or two either HIGH or LOW but the doc said she is not concerned about that as it could be from my meds or even my diet. So for now, we take the wait and watch stance.
So, the good news is NO CANCER.
I want to take this time to thank all of you for your support and prayers.

Fantastic news ! Glad you have more info and they are tracking your m-protein thingamajig ?. Prayer does wonders. On a separate but similar note my work deals 90 percent in extracting similar proteins from donor plasma. Never knew there was so many different ones before this or how they help people that are lacking specific ones.

Great news! And now that you know about it, you can keep an eye on it, too. The power of prayer.....

It always amazes me the things they can do nowdays with medicine. Just think what they will be able to do in another 20-50 years.

Chin up! We are all glad to hear that it is not the ugly "C". Don't forget to let the power of prayer continue in your final recovery.

Excellent news to hear on your diagnosis and that it is not cancer, phoenix1647!!! Did the docs suggest a diet for you or check into which meds you are taking that may be contributing to your diagnosis?

Jan, the doc did not seem too concerned about the off numbers. They do want to keep watch on that M-protein to make sure it does not progress. My thoughts are that I probably don't have enough years left in this old body to worry about some protein. I'd rather go out while hunting for rocks.

It is my duty to teach her how to blow bubbles and giggle.
