Still grinding away, trying out different material. Trying to do some softer stones. I recently got a new batch of labradorite so I'm trying to finish up the last few labrodorite rocks I got from a 5 lb batch I got off ebay awhile back. It was challenging material it had some nice flash in spots but it was fractured pretty badly and the flash planes just went all over in it. Here's the whole recent batch I finished - sodalite, sugilite, pet wood, moss agate, some kind of chrysocolla and labradorite: close up of the labradorite. I experimented a bit and tried to incorporate the edge of the crystal and some below it. The stuff in the middle undercut a bit but I'm intrigued enough to try this again. moss agate. This material wherever the moss bits hit the outside it's white like chalk. not sure what to do about it if anything. backlit by a led light - really neat structures in there: The sodalite backlit, cool color Sugilite. No matter what I do I can't seem to get a really nice glossy finish on this stuff it's kinda frustrating. Really expensive material I want to do the best by it. this is interesting, the chrysocolla had a metallic vein running through it, I wish i would have noticed that before I mapped out the cabs and started cutting. It was blue-green matte finish before I started carving it out. And boy, the macro lens does not lie. where did those freaking gouges come from? Gonna re-work this one a bit I think. This stuff is really challenging.

Nice set of cabs Tim. That's gotta be the darkest sodalite I've ever seen, and the backlit pic is super cool!

Fine collection of well done stones, Tim your really honed in on your projects! That back lit soda is blue flash and the suge is deep blue purple!

Nice, colorful group of cabs. I really like the sugilite- even with the matte finish. I think you could probably get a better shine, but I don't know how.

Nice cabs. You can get a good shine of the Sugilite with 50k and 100k diamond paste

Thanks for the comments! On the sugilite I finish with a 50k diamond paste, Maybe I'll get another disk for 100k paste as well. It looks ok, but I'd like to try and get it a little better.
