I took the day off work yesterday yo oversee the new roof being installed on our house. I figured I might as well do something productive so I grabbed a big piece of Fordite and started making plans. All in all I preformed 12 Fordite cabs, cabbed 4 Fordites, wrapped 10 new pieces. Here is a shot after I cut the rough fordite into cab size pieces 12 new preforms 4 new Fordite cabs wrapped 3 Fordite cabs from the night before got wrapped 3 dino bones from last week got wrapped I even managed to get all my photos done and got them all listed on etsy. My normal work day is 10 hours but I think I put in more than that yesterday on my day off. I still have 8 Fordite preforms ready to work on now too. Thanks for looking Chuck

Very nice! Productive day for sure. Don't see how you made the time to oversee your roofers.
Just wondering, and maybe you've answered this before, does the Fordite smell different from rocks when you cab it?

Just wondering, and maybe you've answered this before, does the Fordite smell different from rocks when you cab it? It all smells the same through my dual cartridge charcoal respirator, lol. There is a faint smell of paint in the room after doing this much though. I find Petoskey stones to be the strongest odor and some dino bone can be strong too. Chuck

Wow! You are fast ...... and you kept an eye on your roofers!
Yesterday, I made 10 pounds of Peppermint Bark. Today I play in the shed cabbing... but will be lucky to finish two cabs.

I counted down 7 to the one I like best. It has a real groovy feel. The bone is awesome, of course. I'd say you had a productive day.

What a great idea to use the roofers as an excuse to stay home. Did you remember to check on them occasionally?
Nice cabs as usual. The seventh picture down is different. It's rockjunquie's favorite, but my least favorite. It doesn't show the stripes as well as most. My favorite is the last Fordite with more blue in it. They're all nice though.
I'm surprised that Petoskey stones smell the strongest. I guess I never really noticed the odor that much. That black rock with the coral in it that I collect smells like oil.

I have always cabbed them in a way that achieves the stripped/banded look but after looking at other peoples Fordite listings I noticed many go for the random pattern look so I figured why not give it a try. It takes a different technique and is harder for me. For what it is worth the one you liked best sold first, The one right above that one sold second and the circle crazy pattern sold third. Chuck

Jugglerguy rockjunquieHere is a fact that would surprise most. Three of the Fordites sold in the first three days and none of the dino bones sold and they are about the same price. Chuck

I really love the fordite, your cabs are beautiful. I saw some fordite rough over on ebay, but I wondered if it was "old" stuff. Is there a value difference if it is newer? There was "new" there, too, so I am a bit wary.

The old stock fordite does cost more and is different to work with than the newer stuff. The stuff I am posting lately is newer material. It is all relative though. Pendant price is figured on pattern achieved, cost of wire, cost of material and amount of labor.
