Not gonna spoil the baby...just holding her to keep bad spirits and ugly rocks away...protecting is not the same as spoiling.

When someone would say something about spoiling a baby my father would simply say "They all smell that way." He loved kids and kids loved him. Spoil her, phoenix1647, while you've got a chance...they grow up so fast.

I am "old school". I strongly believe that a child should be taught and loved. Loving and teaching a child is never spoiling. A child should learn they have to answer for their actions. Now-days, kids get away with everything. They break the laws and disrespect everyone and everything. A lot of young people demand respect but do nothing to earn respect. A child should be taught to make good decisions and to show respect. Once they learn that by showing respect they will get respect, they will become much better adults. Children learn by watching their parents and other adults. Children become what we, as adults, teach them. OK...getting off my soap box now.

I only have three granddaughters...9 years down to 3 months. I'm spoiling each one of them. No, I'm not buying them the toy store or letting them run rampant over situations, but they know they can come lean their shoulder on me any time or fall asleep in my lap any time that they want to. Yeah, I'll keep "spoiling" them.

I hold her every chance I get. Now and then, I get a little smile from her...just melts my heart.
