Hi All..Happy New Year. This is a fantastic forum, I wish I had found it earlier. What a great place to learn, share and chat to people with the same crazy hobby..just why is rock tumbling so addictive? My Husband bought me my rock tumbler for last valentines days as my love for walking soon lead to a longing to learn more about the landscape, then the geology of the land, then the rocks and minerals and before I knew it I had a collection of rough stone with no way of making them " pretty". My only problem is that during my walks now I spend more time looking down at the ground than at the scenery! My rocks still arent "pretty" as to be fair we dont really have a scobby doo what we are doing properly- so this forum is fantastic for us beginners. I have my Rock tumbler set up in the shed at the bottom of the garden but had to stop my operation in October when my neighbour was concerned that the tumbler noise was some Home brew about to be launched into orbit! We have just found a way to screen the noise and are about to start the operations again..hurrah! This year we are looking forward to really getting stuck into some tumbling, collecting and polishing our samples. I have had a dabble at wire wrapping but I have seen some beautiful examples on the forum so I hope in time I can produce some beautiful pieces as well. My husband bought us some dremmel parts, diamond cutters and few more bits for Xmas so we are keen to getting playing with them. We have just been to Anglesey and collected some lovely Jasper, epidote and green basalt samples and travel to Iceland next month so hopefully we can collect some samples there as well. I will be looking through the forum at your fantastic posts and soaking up the advice..I am sure that I will need some help though. Thanks Rockers and rollers for the help and support in advance.
