Well I finally started up my vibe after about a year layoff I was ready to roll but the bowl had other thoughts on the issue... It started on day 2 of the coarse grind with the rubber lid liner ripping apart... ..Undeterred I did a work around on it and came up with this .. Lid without liner Carpet tile Back of tile with circle cut out..Oversized The reason it is oversized is so I didn't have to glue it ..Pressure from lid being tightened kept it right in place with no slippage shown after use So on with the story..I fixed this and never really noticed the bowl was a little thin in one spot...I caught it before heartache could happen during the polish stage...The bowl had said NO MORE!!!..It split and a hole worn through..But I said to it we are not done..there is a burnish stage left..So on to the next work ..around..I was determined to finish it if you haven't guessed by now..LOL The bowl (no hole pic) with the temporary solution The aluminum Tape was the first thing I ran across in the room. It did what it need to do for the 24 hour burnish... Victory is Mine!!!!!...I will post the batch soon ..It was a Heinz 57 batch...Thanks for looking and listening to my madness...John

Thunder69 I pulled the liner off my cover years ago. I figured it was there just for noise reduction. As far as the barrel wearing out I have used super glue in the barrel, pour it in and let it cote the entire inside. When I first got my UV18 I had a large rock get stuck and wear a large divot in the bottom so I thought the barrel life would be very short. Sure was upset at myself for putting in to large of a rock. I ended up pouring thick super glue into the divot and letting it cure then put more in it in layers. It worked so 2 years latter as I could see the barrel was getting thinner I decided to line the whole barrel with super glue. I now only use it for polish but it sure extended the life of the barrel. $3 super glue $80 barrel........................................Mrp

I had a lid do that. I just cut a new liner from a cork place mat. The lids are the main source of grit contamination. I have two bowls and four lids. One lid for every stage.
