Hmmm. Has more the look of jaspelite to me ( red jasper mixed with hematite). If it is jaspelite, the mud coming off the grinding wheel/saw should be red. Got to admit, I've never seen nickel silicate jasper but wouldn't nickel silicate be chrysoprase and be green?....Mel

How about Cave Creek? I haven't seen that those white bands in any Cave Creek material, but don't know that means it couldn't happen.
Granted, there are probably several things it could be ...
Mel?

Bob, Mineralwise, I'd almost classify Cave creek Jasper as jaspelite. It's red, hematite rich etc. Only difference is, the most awesome Cave Creek is nice poppy jasper too. There was even jaspelite running from bands to orbs at one end of the Stinky Horse Hole pit up at Hunters Valley. All in all, even that looked much like the material pictured here....Mel

But like copper that has two ionic forms (cupric & cuprous); I believe nickel may have nickel and nickelous ions. Lemme have a go and I'll check back in later!

Both ionic forms of nickel are green.

After looking at many pics, jaspelite seems to be the closest to this.Weight wise, compares to Mary Ellen Jasper I have. This material leans to maroon color when polished.
Thanks everyone!
