Hello all,
Has anyone on this board ever visited Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas? My 8 year old daughter and I are planning a trip there for this spring or summer. Looking for info on where to stay, what to do (when not searching for diamonds), etc. Any info from people that have been there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Been there.Would recommend you carry a couple 5 gal.buckets with plenty bottles of water and snacks. There is no shade, except for a small washing shack.Bare ground.Hats and sunscreen. We went in September and it was hot.All in all,a good experience. After you get tired of looking for diamonds, fill your buckets up with agates and jaspers on your way out, don't want to lug them around full of rocks when you first get there. Here is a container of agates and jasper to give an example of whats there Have fun. Me and my sons stayed in Horseshoe Casino in Bossier and made a day trip up there.Thats probably out for you and your daughter. Also watch those 55 mph speed limits!!! My son donated to Arkansas law. snuffy
