jamesp, which I like to think is short for I JAM in ESPanol, I've a question in response to your quartz thread. I bought some blue quartz from the Rock Shed. Roundly tumbled them in a 15lber then Loto-vibed them. They turned out severely pitted. Then, I backtracked to 120 in the vibe, went through the standard stages and dry polished them in corn media. Same result.
So I'm pondering going back into a 3lber with 30 grit and sugar for a few weeks with a recharge in a week then vib them with some AO500.
Normally I wouldn't fret it, but I bought this stuff to give it to graduating seniors at Greeley West High School whose colors are blue and gold.
Gracias. BTW my favorite Spanish jams are anything by Los Lobos or Triste Pena from the Gypsy Kings.
Keep on rollin, Colin

Learned something new-I Jam. Never knew it. P is initial for last name. I did jam it together with the first name.
I use clay to make a thick slurry and 30 grit in the rotary. Plenty of small rocks for quartz.
One cup water and one cup sugar, tablespoon AO 500 for 14 pounds rock in the vibe. For quartz about 50% pea sized quartz/agate smalls.
Did your stones get pitted in the rotary or the vibe ? Pits typical of vibe. Lot of people have Lot-O's here. They use different menu than I use on my Viking vibe. Might want to focus on amount of water and level of rocks in the Lot-O. Lot-O seems friendly with quartz's looking at posts on this forum.
