LOL! Customers keep asking me for my Facebook page and I have resisted up to now. I commonly refer to it as "Bookface" because so many people are obsessed with with it and constantly updating it with useless posts and the infamous "Selfies". I have begun the see the benefits of using it as a way to expand one's business, so trying to test the waters.

No input, so guess I'll wing it. Sent JamesP a "friend" request, so running the risk of being "unfriended"

People either love it or hate it. FB is basically the fastfood of the internet. I must admit, I spend a lot more time there than on forums these days, but that's only because there are to few people talking to me on forums. The number of people on FB at any given time, gives a better chance for interaction.
Security: I see a lot of people getting hacked, but have never ever had a single problem myself in 8 years on it. Just ensue that you admit only friends that are in your circle of interest and keep the spammers out. Thats sometimes impossible, but you can bann the few that make it through screening. Business: A lot of interest-groups/pages will allow you to present your ware for sale. Others will not. I'm just a show off and do not sell, so can't help giving advice on how to sell.

I've always been in the "Hate it" camp, but customers have been requesting to see things I am doing, or have done and FB is a lot simpler and faster to update than my web page. Guess I'm just too paranoid about privacy.

Yep privacy is a problem, but the way I understand it, if you are on the net, anything is available to anyone who wants to snoop into your business. I just keep anything that I don't want to get out off my computer, and FB nothing intensely private will ever be posted.

F/B is what you want to put into it! It's better than it was years ago-security is a lot better, you can set your settings to private, only inviting people you know and trust...Screening is simple... As stated,if your on the internet your privacy isn't anymore!!! My Son In Law showed me that! He can get into anybody's accounts online,emails,groups,F/B,etc,etc....It's all about the numbers with your name... So you either do it,not worry about it or just do it and pay attention to your surroundings.... New day/new age/new ideas......

If you get tired of fb, you CAN delete your account. At the urgings of our kids, I joined up. What a waste of time! Son says it is just a data collecting device. So true --- if you fill out all their questions. I didn't. Anyhow, I just wanted to get off. Went to justdelete.me. It is effective. FB makes you wait 14? days before you are really gone, hoping you will accidentally click on. I am really gone : )

I can't keep up with FB changes, but you should be able to get a business page easily enough. That one should be left open and non private so people can find you. There is nothing more annoying than clicking a fb link to someone's post/pictures and find that I have to log in to see. I won't do it, I'll just go away, as I loath fb. Your personal page should have all the privacy you need or want. I bet there is a youtube vid on how to harden your fb account.
edit- I should add that a blog would serve the same purpose and you would have full control. If you have a gmail account, you already have a free blog.
