I'm still digging in my backyard by springs. Finding fossils in red quartz or whatever it is. Anyway some of them are think and I would like to break them in half, long ways. If there is something in there go to look at would that damage it. Is there a better way of doing it. I was thinking about a mild acid maybe...like Coke or whatever. It might not be worth doing but again you never know. Need your thoughts about this. No pics of the fossils just trying to learn post pics so please ignore the pic if it works

Some host rocks break easy and can view the interior...........Would have to see the rock to tell you anymore..........

If you soak them good in water then freeze them, some will crack along a weak plane that absorbs some of the water.
